I have decided to re-open my website! In the past, I just wasn't happy with the look of my website. I have chosen to go big and with a professional.......Avalon Rose Website template! Catherine's templates are just gorgeous and unique. That is exactly what I have been wanting to do for a long time. You'll have to be patient, I want it to be perfect before having the grand opening. I have lots of work to do behind the scenes, so hopefully my web store will be up and running by September 1st! Mean while check out her fabulous work!

Well, here we are.......trying to get all the last minute things done, thinking about making sure the house is clean, weeds pulled, car all cleaned up, all the clothes done and thinking about our packing list! Just 3 more days till we head to Oklahoma to visit family and friends! This year I am really looking forward to this. It has been awhile since we went back for such a fun trip with my brother and his wife. Come on Friday!!!

Relay for Life

Hello world! Today is a dreary day once again since having a balmy 56 degrees last week! I am home for lunch today......uhhhh, supposed to be cleaning since we are having my Relay for Life meeting here tomorrow AND my wonderful hubby's birthday party.......but here I sit tap, tap, tapping on the computer! I am trying new ventures (or adventures) this year. Still searching for my calling and looking to get out of this floundering rut. I have a friend that her father was just diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago. We had the opportunity to sign up to do the Relay for Life. I was voted as team captain! Did I really know what I was getting into? Uhhh, NO! But, here I go anyway! We are supposed to come up with a movie theme (we have some great ideas!), the campsite must be decorated in this theme, costumes etc. while getting in shape to walk all night. You know, Cancer NEVER sleeps! I need your help! We have all been touched by cancer in our lives. A loved one or a friend. I am doing this so that I can contribute in some small way. Relay for Life is for the American Cancer Society. It helps fund research, educate and lobby bills for ALL types of cancers. The money is dispersed to every single entity! I am thankful for the beautiful sunshine today, my sweet boys, my part time job at our school, my part time job bookkeeping AND my agreeing with my heart to follow it! I just started my example "Bloom" art project for my very first mixed media workshop! I am so excited to get my feet wet with this venture of the heart! Oh, and did I tell you that sweet inspirational Lesley Riley mentioned my confession in her newsletter today? She is amazing and whether she likes it or not, I have adopted her as my mentor! Taking in the beauty this morning........

AWWWW...........the first day of Spring Break! I sat with my cup of coffee reading my first copy of "Souvenir" online Gazette by Heather Bullard. Her blog is beautiful and inspiring! Then, I look at all the fun the girls are having at "Brave Girl Camp" with Melody Ross........oh, how I hope one day to attend! I am taking an online mixed media art workshop with Christy Tomlinson! My computer has been giving me fits with my upload speed, so I have not even started on my first SheArt Girl yet, but have been jotting down my ideas! I have been soul searching for some time now. You know, I have really decided that I need to follow my heart. My wish is to inspire others, have pride and confidence in myself, make time for art everyday AND spend more quality time with my boys. Time just flies by so quickly. So, as I get ready to go to work for a little while this morning, I choose to let Lesley Riley's words of wisdom sink down in my soul! The sun is warm and it is a truly gorgeous day! I choose to believe in the possibilities today! Hope you have a beautiful one!

I can't honestly believe that January is almost over! Where does the time fly. We have had record snow and I am very ready for the pretty little flowers to be popping their heads out of the beds. With tax stuff almost ready for the mail and the boys playing in the snow.........I played! First try at painting/collage work. I think I could become addicted! With approval from my hubby and the boys thinking this could be my found talent, I present to you "In our Hearts". Stay tuned........

Christmas Vacation

Woo Hoo! Our Christmas vacation officially started last Friday after school, but really counts this morning! How nice it was to sleep in, play on the computer while sipping my coffee, give the dog a bath, cleaned a bit, play on the computer once again........then realize it is already 11:00! Wow does time fly when you don't have to rush off to school! Speaking of Christmas vacation, it is one of our favorite movies! What is your favorite holiday movie? I started on the holiday baking last night. Only problem with that is that we might be out of these yummy butter cookies by the time Christmas rolls around!

My son who is in student council and I will be walking in our Fruita Fall Festival Parade this morning along with many other students and parents representing our awesome school.......Rim Rock Elementary! This afternoon I finally got to finish up my little bracelet. I got the coolest vintage soda bottle caps on ebay a few weeks ago. They even have the cork in the back. I am trying to decide if I want to add vintage black and white photos over the cork and then add resin......hmmmmm. Anyway I just wanted to share. I also played with my new Adobe Elements 7 software. Wow it is tricky! I have a lot of studying to do! ttfn

As we started back to school this week, I couldn't help but think about my younger days. Not that I am old, 44, if you must know. Thirty was a shocker, but at 44 I still feel like I'm in my twenties. My body doesn't really look like that or feel like that, but my mind won't let me go any further! You might call it immaturity, but I don't mind. Just this afternoon I was cleaning/playing on facebook and decided that I needed some music. Not just any music, but my new fav! 80's on 8! Have you heard of this on Sirrius? I am lovin it! So, I start thinking about high school and all the fun we had back in 1981 to 1983. Then of course I felt like my buddies should be reminissing with me. What a blast! We loved going to the lake, our favorite hang out "The Sandwich Shack". I do remember one somber sad night shortly after my next door neighbor and good friend had been killed after leaving a party. We were ALL discussing how we needed to mend our party ways. What did it take, a month maybe? As teenagers we think we are indispensible. I will be hugging my boys and giving loving lectures on having safe fun! Too bad the skating rink is not such a cool place to hang like when we were in high school. Thinking of the old days are fun, but I would not trade my life with my wonderful hubby and two beautiful boys! What do you remember about high school?

After a wonderful trip to Oklahoma to visit family and friends, we are finally gettin back in the groove. Do you ever take for granted the little things surrounding you? I think that one of the sweetest comments my oldest son has ever said to me was that he was going to miss the smell of Tulsa. I said what do you mean, it was pretty muggy the morning we were leaving and he said there was a particular smell with the humidity that morning. How adorable. I lived there most of my life and never noticed a smell. Guess we all need to take advantage of really taking all the beauty and smells of where we are at all times. You never know what might move you!

Today should be filled with fun. One of my best friends birthday was yesterday, so we always celebrate together. We are having lunch with our boys and then Brent, the boys and I will go out for b-day dinner this evening. HMMMM, maybe fasting is in my future tomorrow!

Okay, so I am trying to come up with my very own style! Here are my first two attempts. I would love to know what you think! I grew up in Tulsa. We lived close enough to my Elementary School to walk every day to and from school. One of my fondest memories of those years was upon opening the door to our home was the smell of fresh baked cookies! My mom made the best peanutbutter cookies. They were so yummy warm and with a glass of milk........I wanted to share the recipe. I hope you love them as much as I do! Now in the picture we added chocolate chips......Alec had been dying for Peanutbutter Chocolate chip cookies! Pretty good, but I still love the original version best!

Okay, so I am trying to watch what I eat AGAIN! I just got back from spending way to much at Sam's Club and Walmart. I wanted to share a yummy REVISED recipe that I just made a from my Weight Watchers magazine:

Two-Bean Chili (My version)

1 tsp. olive oil (I didn't)
3/4 lb. lean ground beef (I used a pound)
1 onion, chopped ( I used a little)
3 garlic cloves ( I used one)
1 yellow bell pepper, chopped (I used green)
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. cumin
1 28 oz. can diced tomatoes (I used 15 oz tomato sauce)
1 15oz can red kidney beans, rinsed ( I used two and didn't rinse them, I like the juice)
1 15 oz can black beans (believe it or not, I did this!)
3/4 tsp. salt ( I dashed)
Sour cream
scallions

I browned the beef, then added everything else and simmered! YUMMY!!!!

Oh, and never mind the jar of M&M's on my desk......hey, at least they are dark chocolate!

Woo Hoo! First day of Spring Break 2009!

So, remember when you were is high school and that meant "Paaaarrrtty"!!! Well, you know after 26 years and two children later.......not so much partying going on today! I love this day anyway!!! We are being so lazy, not to mention with the time change I can't get over how fast the day is flying by.

And remember the laundry fiasco? Well, I did almost see the bottom of the basket this weekend, but started washing all the valances today. So, here we go on one the best spring breaks ever! Can I get a big shout out for spring cleaning? Anyone?! This is my life now, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Snowmass Village will be our treat later in the week, visiting Grandpa Sandy! Woo Hoo!

Help me fight cancer......

Our family has personally been touched with too many friends and family being diagnosed with cancer. It saddens me, but has also made me realize that I want to try to do something about raising donations for cancer research. I came up with this bracelet specifically for this purpose.

This series is called "Spoonfuls of Love" and 50% of the proceeds will be donated to The American Cancer Society. I decided to do this since the family and friends that have been afflicted by this horrible disease have been diagnosed with Colon, Ovarian, Pancreatic and Breast Cancer. I can't choose just one branch to donate to. I hope that you will help me in this fight. If we all do just a little, we can make an impact in a HUGE way.

This is a vintage silver plated spoon, hand stamped and placed in a solution for the pretty patina. The color is so cool. There are purple, pink and copper hues to it with a pretty little dove!

Hello to all. I am a newbie to blogging, so please be patient with me while I am learning.

Just a little about me........

I am married and have two beautiful boys. We are very blessed to be living in Colorado. I stayed home with our boys for 6 years and have been employed with the school district and loving it since. It is a perfect job to have with small children. I am off work when they are out of school! I have dabbled in my share of Direct Sales and started my own jewelry design business in 2005, but took a small break. I am now diving in again. I love creating and my favorite pieces to make are bracelets. I am hoping to have some pictures posted soon. Guess that is it for now. Thank you for visiting!
